HASA State ChampionshipsPosted on June 12th, 2008 by forrest_troxell | |
After finishing the Hawaiian Amateur Surfing Association maui season rated 1st in junior men, and 6th in open men, I was ready to compete in the state championships on Oahu, at Ala Moana Bowls. First day of the competition, surfed the junior men heat, and closely didn’t make the heat. It left me discouraged, but I had a whole day to think about what I needed to do better to excel in Open Mens the next day. The next day came, and I surfed my Open Men heat, and advanced, and continued to advance through 2 other heats that day to make it to the finals. The finals came on Friday, the last day of the competition. The surf was on fire: 2 feet overhead and offshore barrels. I surfed the final and placed 3rd in it. I am super stoked on the result! Check out some of these photos from online of the final heat.
